Come and Enjoy
" CHURCH AS IT USED TO BE "

Since 1893, the Historic Parkside Chapel of Henryville has been a place of refuge and reflection for vacationers wishing to worship in a quiet setting while seeking respite from their fast paced lives.

Non-denominational  services are held at 11:00 AM from the first Sunday in June thru the final Sunday in September. Our music director, Gary Raish provides many soloists, instrumentalists and choirs thru out the summer season. We also
hold an old fashioned Hymn Sing the last Sunday in September, with many
 local musician participating.

The stone chapel was originally built to serve guests of the former Park House Hotel and the renowned Henryville House, two resorts which were adjacent to the property.  Situated on a wooded knoll filled with white pine, maple and oak trees, this beautiful structure is surrounded by pristine trout streams, acres of scenic vistas and peaceful forest land.

To walk into this beautiful structure is to feel a sense of immediate peace ~ a serenity that harkens back to a simpler time. The building to this day has neither electricity nor running water but creates an atmosphere of church as it used to be.

A strikingly large triptych stained glass window surrounded by brick framing welcomes each worshiper and has been the subject of many a photograph snapped by visitors wanting to capture the essence of the Chapel.
The stunning picture of Jesus with two children, a small girl standing at His knee and a baby boy in His arm.
Little is known about the purpose or the occasion of this dedication. The inscription at the
 bottom of this window reads

                                                                       In Memorium of
                                                         Ada O Nash  ~~~ Jay M Nash
                                                                   By their Loving Mother

The tiny chapel contains dozens of antique wooden chairs, a rustic alter and kerosene lanterns lining the wainscoted walls. This priceless piece of Pocono history is all that remains of the former hamlet of Parkside.

Parkside Chapel of Henryville is the perfect place to hold a special wedding, vows renewal, baptism or blessing of new infants. This timeless setting seats about 75 people and presents an opportunity to enjoy a special day in a very serene, peaceful setting.

Decorating and rehearsal times can be arranged for all events. A list of four local ministers will be provided to help you with selecting a celebrant or you can provide your own. A list of music accompanists to provide music on our digital piano is also available.

The historic Crescent Lodge is within 4 miles to host your after celebration at a beautifully restored County Inn. Local florist may also provide you with the floral arrangements you desire, many times with locally grown flowers.
